India’s primary market looks set for a calmer week after a busy October. Only one new public offer, worth Rs 57 crore, opens for subscription between November 2 and November 6. No new mainboard IPO is scheduled to launch, but a long line of companies that raised money in recent weeks will make their stock market debuts.
The slowdown follows Jio Platforms’ Rs 30,188 crore IPO, the largest in the country’s history. The Mukesh Ambani-led company listed on October 28 at Rs 1,358, a premium of 21.36% over its issue price of Rs 1,119. The offer drew bids worth Rs 4.9 lakh crore in the public book and was subscribed more than 22 times.
This week, attention shifts to the closing days of issues already open and to how the recently closed offers fare on listing.
Vedant Poly Fabs: the only new issue
Vedant Poly Fabs, a small and medium enterprise (SME), is the lone company opening its IPO. The Rs 56.68 crore issue opens on Monday, November 2, and closes on Wednesday, November 4. The price band is Rs 88-94 per share.
The issue has a fresh component of 54.26 lakh shares worth Rs 51.01 crore. An offer for sale of 6.04 lakh shares adds Rs 5.67 crore. Retail investors must apply for at least 2,400 shares, which needs Rs 2,25,600 at the top of the price band.
Allotment is likely to be finalised on November 5. The shares are expected to list on the NSE SME platform on November 9.
The company makes flexible packaging materials, including shrink films, printed laminates and packaging pouches. These are used in the food, beverage and consumer goods industries.
Bombay Coated & Special Steels in focus
The main offer to watch is the Rs 183.06 crore IPO of Bombay Coated & Special Steels. It opened on October 29 and closes on November 2. The price band is Rs 78-82 per share, and the minimum retail bid is 182 shares, or Rs 14,924.
The issue is entirely fresh, comprising 2.23 crore equity shares. The company plans to use Rs 125 crore to repay borrowings and Rs 15.77 crore to buy capital equipment it currently holds under lease arrangements.
Bombay Coated processes steel, converting coils into products for automotive, appliance and engineering manufacturers. The response was strong in the first two days of bidding. Overall subscription stood at 3.98 times on October 30. The qualified institutional buyer portion was subscribed 6.89 times and the retail category 3.17 times.
Allotment is expected on November 3, with listing on the BSE and NSE on November 5.
