Mutual Funds Cut Holdings in 79 Small-Cap Stocks, Ending Two Quarters of Buying

Mutual funds reduced their stakes in 79 small-cap stocks listed on the BSE during the September 2026 quarter. The move reversed two earlier quarters in which fund houses had been steadily adding to these holdings.

Several of the affected companies saw their share prices fall hard. The biggest losers dropped between 24% and 32% over the three months.

The sharp selling in these stocks comes after a period of buying, and it shows that fund managers have grown more cautious about smaller companies in the latest quarter.
