Music label Saregama India said on Wednesday that its consolidated net profit rose 46.4 per cent from a year earlier to Rs 64.17 crore for the September quarter of FY27. The growth came mainly from its music business and a wider footprint in live events.
In the same quarter a year earlier, the company had earned a net profit of Rs 43.83 crore. Saregama India is part of the RPSG Group, and the figures were disclosed in a regulatory filing.
Revenue and costs
Revenue from operations climbed 36.63 per cent to Rs 314.30 crore in the September quarter. Total expenses rose 31 per cent to Rs 237.69 crore over the same period.
Total income, which also includes other income, came to Rs 319.47 crore in the quarter, up 32.28 per cent year on year.
For the first half of FY27, the company’s total consolidated income stood at Rs 587.28 crore, a rise of 27 per cent from a year earlier.
Music and live events
The music segment was the biggest contributor. Its revenue reached Rs 251.3 crore, up 35 per cent.
Live events also performed strongly. Revenue from this business rose 101 per cent year on year to Rs 44.7 crore. The company attributed the jump to a higher number of events held during the quarter.
Management view
Avarna Jain, Vice Chairperson of Saregama India, said the company had kept its growth momentum going during the quarter. She pointed to the strength of the music business and the expansion into live events and other entertainment formats.
Jain said the company’s focus remains on getting the most value from its intellectual property through several ways of earning money from it. She added that Saregama would keep its finances disciplined while investing in opportunities that support steady growth over the long term.
